What to put on an invoice
- Your name or business name, address and contact details.
- Your client's name and address — for a company, its exact registered name (check it on Companies House).
- A unique invoice number and the invoice date.
- What you supplied and when, the amount, and the total.
- The due date and how to pay.
- If you're VAT-registered: your VAT number and the VAT breakdown (VAT calculator).

After you send it
Most late invoices are forgotten, not disputed. A friendly reminder a few days before the due date fixes most of them — here are 30 templates, or let AutoChase send them for you automatically.
